Brookfield Central student Lucia Brewer (Class of 2027) has been named the 2027 Distinguished Young Woman of Wisconsin.

Brewer advanced to the state program after being named the 2027 Distinguished Young Woman of Brookfield. At the Wisconsin competition, she received awards for Overall Fitness, Overall Interview and Be Your Best Self, earning $8,000 in state scholarships. Combined with $4,200 in local scholarships, Brewer has earned $12,200 through the Distinguished Young Women program.

“"DYW is one of the most meaningful and empowering experiences I have ever had the opportunity to be a part of,” reflected Brewer. “Beyond its focus on intellectual, creative, and personal growth, what makes the program truly special is the sisterhood it fosters. Each young woman I had the pleasure of spending time with throughout my state week experience carries a remarkable light within her, and I am honored to be the young woman chosen to carry that light with me as I represent Wisconsin over the next year."

Brewer is also a member of Brookfield Central’s 2026 state champion Mock Trial team and was recently recognized as one of the top 10 student attorneys in the nation.

Anna Ewig, a Brookfield East (‘27) student and the 2027 Distinguished Young Woman of Elm Grove, was named second runner-up for Distinguished Young Woman of Wisconsin. Ewig also received the state Runner-Up Scholastics Award, earning $3,000 in state scholarships. Combined with $2,250 in local awards, she has earned $5,250 through the program.

Since its founding in 1958, Distinguished Young Women has supported students through scholarship opportunities and life-skills development focused on leadership, interviewing, public speaking and self-confidence.

As Wisconsin’s 2027 representative, Brewer will advance to the Distinguished Young Women National Finals in Mobile, Alabama, where she will compete alongside students from across the country for additional scholarships.
