Brookfield Central Junior Aidan Liu is continuing to make waves in the speedskating world as he advanced to being named to the Junior National Team this Spring. This advancement recognizes his status within the United States speed skating talent pipeline and overall ranking in domestic competitions, including his qualification to represent Team USA at the 2025 World Junior Short Track Speedskating Championships.

As a junior-level skater, the typical progression at the elite level begins with selection to the Development Team which Liu secured in 2024, followed by the Junior National Team, and ultimately the Senior National Team.

"Making the Junior National Team is a great honor. It represents the culmination of years of hard work and the unwavering support of my family, my coach Hongyang Wang, and the teachers and staff of the Elmbrook School District, who have been so accommodating throughout my speed skating journey,” reflected Liu. “This summer, I’ve been invited by US Speedskating to train with the Senior National Team in Salt Lake City — bringing me one step closer to my Olympic dreams in 2030 and 2034!"

Elmbrook Speedskating recently hosted an Experience Speedskating event to welcome special education families to try out the unique sport, furthering their mission to introduce more and more students to the opportunities available in speedskating. Aidan was also recently the grand prize winner of the Junior Achievement Young Entrepreneur Competition
