Brookfield Central junior Kyenret Rinkam (pictured) delivered another historic performance at the WIAA Division 1 State Track & Field Championships last weekend, capturing not one, but two state championships. Rinkam sprinted to victory in the 100 Meter Dash with a school-record time of 11.62 seconds and followed it up with another school-record performance of 23.82 seconds to claim the 200 Meter Dash state title.

Rinkam's remarkable efforts helped lead the Brookfield Central girls team to a 6th-place finish overall in the Division 1 team standings. She also anchored the Lancers' 4x400 Meter Relay team to a 5th-place podium finish with a time of 3:55.00. Joining Rinkam on the relay were Angelina Goll (10), Lily Michalski (11), and Kate Rusch (12).

Brookfield Central's success extended beyond Rinkam's state titles, as several other athletes earned podium finishes (top six) at the state meet. Ava Mohns (11) placed 5th in the Discus with a throw of 133-05, while Angelina Goll (10) added a 6th-place finish in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 57.02.

Brookfield East also celebrated an impressive showing at the state championships, finishing 12th in the girls team standings. Sophomore Ella Black earned a runner-up finish in the High Jump, clearing 5-6 to place 2nd in the state. Isabelle Yttre continued her outstanding career by finishing 3rd in the 800 Meter Run with a school-record time of 2:12.26, breaking her own school record. Catherine Reddin (11) secured a 3rd-place finish in the Wheelchair Shot Put with a throw of 17-0.

The Spartans' girls 4x400 Meter Relay team also reached the podium, placing 6th with a school-record time of 3:55.12. The relay consisted of Tressa McManus (11), Gabby Moss (11), Lilli Falci (11), and Isabelle Yttre (12).

On the boys side, Brookfield East's Ben Borinio (11) earned a podium finish of his own, placing 6th in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 48.75.

This year's WIAA State Track & Field Championships once again showcased the exceptional talent across both Brookfield Central and Brookfield East. Congratulations to all of the athletes, coaches, and support staff on an incredible 2026 season!
