Brookfield Central (BC) sophomore Kyenret Rinkam (pictured) delivered a sensational performance at the WIAA Division 1 State Track & Field Championships last weekend, sprinting her way to a state title in the 100 Meter Dash. Her winning time of 11.88 seconds came on the heels of an even faster 11.77 in the trials on Friday, which set a new school record!
Rinkam didn’t stop there - she also earned 3rd place in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 24.40 and anchored the 4x400 Meter Relay to a 5th place podium finish at state. She was joined by Emily Summers (12), Angelina Goll (9), Lily Michalski (10), and alternates Maddy Jensen (12) and Emory Winter (12), who each played a key role—Maddy ran at Regionals, while Emory stepped in at Sectionals and the State Prelims. Utilizing all six athletes throughout the postseason allowed the relay to peak when it mattered most—a true team effort. The squad broke the school record in the prelims on Friday with a time of 3:57.31. Rinkam’s standout performances helped lead the Brookfield Central girls team to a tie for 7th place overall.
In addition to Rinkam’s historic showing, several other BC student-athletes earned spots on the podium (top 6), with numerous school records shattered in the process:
- Bobby King (12): 3rd in the 200m Dash, 21.57 – school record
- Rece Hopfensperger (11): 3rd in the 300m Hurdles, 38.99 – school record
- BC Boys 4x200 Relay: 3rd place - Frank Wiedmeyer (12), Rece Hopfensperger (11), Evan Horman (11), Bobby King (12), school record
- Lily Michalski (10): 5th in the 3200m Run, 11:01.06
- Ava Mohns (10): 6th in Discus, 126-08 – school record
Congratulations to all of the athletes, coaches, and support staff for an outstanding 2025 season!
