The Brookfield Central Girls Soccer team was named WIAA Division 2 State Champions after a thrilling 2-1 victory over Pewaukee on Saturday, June 21 at Uihlein Soccer Park. Led once again by Coach Daniel Makal, the Lancers concluded a determined season with a 14-5 overall record and a welcomed return to championship glory.

After a scoreless first half, Brookfield Central opened the scoring in the 47th minute with a goal by junior Dylan Romero, assisted by junior Megan Rauch. Pewaukee answered back in the 65th minute to tie the game, but it was junior Alexandra Rossi who sealed the win in the 69th minute with an unassisted strike into the far post, securing the Lancers' seventh state title and their first since 2018.

This season, Brookfield Central once again led the Greater Metro Conference and demonstrated their championship pedigree throughout the playoffs. The state final showcased grit, teamwork, and a relentless spirit that brought the gold ball back to Central.

“This was a group of girls that created an unbelievable cultural environment and showed true care for each other on and off the pitch,” reflected Head Coach Makal. “This will be a group that future players should look up to and model themselves after. The leadership they demonstrated was paramount and we are so proud of them.”

Congratulations to the entire team on an unforgettable season!
