Brookfield Central High School recently hosted State Representative Tom Michalski, where students showcased the newly refurbished robotics facility at BC. Students from Brookfield Central & Brookfield East provided Michalski with a guided tour that showcased the latest FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) game, offering an in-depth demonstration of their innovative robotics projects. The Elmbrook School District is home to five FTC teams: Team Hazmat (#13201), GEarheads (#16460), Superstellar (#19417), Error (#21180), and Pack-A-Punch (#26396). More than 100 students across the district’s middle and high schools are actively involved in these programs.
"Elmbrook's support of STEM classes and extracurricular opportunities allows students to build important technical skills, but also important skills that translate outside of the classroom and school buildings," reflected Sidharth Rane, Brookfield Central Senior. "We're grateful for these opportunities to build our skills and to display them to interested individuals like Representative Michalski."
After the tour, students and coaches engaged Michalski in a thoughtful discussion about the current state of STEM and robotics education. The conversation highlighted recent advancements in expanding STEM opportunities, as well as areas for potential improvement to further enrich student experiences. We thank Representative Michalski and other state officials for their continued advocacy and support of Elmbrook’s investment in STEM and robotics programs, recognizing the critical role these initiatives play in preparing students for future careers in technology and engineering.
